Starting out with a visit of the last operating salt pans in Mauritius, we continue along the
tracks of the ancestors and take a look into Martello Tower, a carefully restored mini-fortress
built by the British. The road then leads through the hot and dry south west, right up to S.
Anne; a famous place for pilgrims who come from far to worship here. Lunch is enjoyed in an
authentic restaurant. We then continue to Baie du Cap, where Matthew Flinders’ tragic tale is
depicted in a monument We stop to take a look before visiting the UNESCO Heritage Site at the
foot of square basalt mountain Le Morne, Mauritius “landmark mountain”. We finally cool off with
a swim at Le Morne Beach before heading back.
